Liqueur or flavoured spirit?

Flavour names do not tell you everything. Cherry rum may be a flavoured spirit while cherry liqueur is generally sweeter and may have a different strength.

Put it into practice

Read the label rather than assuming a one-for-one swap. Match the role: base alcohol, sweetness, acidity or aroma. Update the ABV calculator when swapping bottles.
